It seemed to work pretty well and gripped his head (which was his only requirement, he has short hair and can’t use a pin to hold the kippah on).

I *love* it!!! I always bring home kippot from Israel, but really like the idea of sending one of your hand crafted ones there instead.
I hope that your brother had an uneventful flight – it is such a loooooong haul from the West Coast (my mom is always exhausted by the time we get there – she’s in L.A.) and the jetlag can be wicked. It is too bad that you aren’t going over with him – I think that a trip there would be a grounding experience for you right now – but I understand that the time and financial expense would be huge.
I would love to go to Israel right now too. My mom turns 50 at the end of this year and she keeps aon saying that for her birthday she wants our whole family to go to Israel together. And then she says she might want us to go on a Mediterranean cruise instead. So we’ll see.
I would love to make the kippot for my daughter’s bat mitzvah. I am having a hard time finding a good pattern. Would you please share your pattern? THank you.
